Bruno a Real Madrid Target
Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes. A potential £90 million bid looks set to bolster their squad ahead of the summer transfer window. Is Bruno a Real Madrid target? Here’s the latest.

Fernandes a Seamless Fit at Madrid
The Portuguese international remains a crucial figure at Old Trafford, but with United enduring a challenging Premier League season, speculation over his future has intensified. According to the Sunday Express, Madrid’s scouts have been closely monitoring Fernandes, believing he would be a seamless fit for their midfield as they plan for the future.
Bruno’s United Contract
Despite extending his contract last year, Fernandes had previously made it clear to United’s hierarchy that he expected the club to remain competitive at the highest level. Speaking in August, he remarked, “The club knew that I want to compete with the best teams. They knew that we needed to improve the team. And I think that we’re doing that. I said to them: ‘I don’t need you to promise me that we’re going to win the league,’ because no one can promise that. But at least that we will have a team to compete and be competitive throughout the season, to try to achieve silverware and to compete at the highest levels.”
Sell to Buy at Man United?
While United invested heavily in new signings ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, results have failed to match expectations, leading to questions about the squad’s long-term prospects under manager Ruben Amorim. The club’s financial position, while stable under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s leadership, may require strategic sales to fund further improvements.
Ratcliffe recently dismissed suggestions that United would be forced into selling players purely for financial reasons, stating, “We won’t be selling players because of the state we are in financially. The club had got bloated so we reduced that and will finish it with a lean and efficient organisation. That’s how we will address the costs.”
Nevertheless, should Real Madrid table a formal offer in the region of £90 million, it could present United with a difficult decision. Amorim would undoubtedly be reluctant to lose Fernandes, but with the club in transition, a significant bid from the Spanish giants might prove too tempting to ignore. As the summer window approaches, all eyes will be on Fernandes and whether his future lies in Manchester or Madrid.
